So for me its prob gotta be the 1976 album "Have Moicy", by Peter Stampfel (of Holy Modal Rounders), Michael Hurley, and some guy Jeffrey Frederick. The Holy Modal Rounders are pretty niche, and when they're the biggest name on a comp, its safe to say this album is way off of mosst people's radar, particularly considering its folk/country sttylings that aren't exactly in vogue right now. Its a shame though, because this album fucking rips, even Village Voice went as far as to call it "The best folk album of the rock era". The band, however, doesn't take themselves seriously - at all, Its got a similar style of humor that will be familiar to Holy Modal Rounders fans, but is further refiend and perfected with this lineup. It perfectly walks the line of being a hilarious folk album without venturing into the realm of being a "comedy album". Behind all the silliness, though, there is some seriously impressive musical and songwriting talent.
