      From what I’ve seen they’re focusing on the “budget already allocated, nothing could be done” argument and just completely ignoring the part where something was in fact done, but not to prevent it.

        Even if it was a contractual thing, it would've been better to breach the contract, pay damages, and not build the wall. Monsters.

        Exactly what's so shitty about this. The MF waived 26(!?) laws to get this to go, just because the money was there? The hell?
