onions have such an awful texture to me. they are crunchy in the worst way possible, and for some reason people sneak them inside of almost every dish. pasta sauce does NOT need tiny crunchy vegetables.
what foods do you hate?
Texture mismatches are what do it for me the most in terms of excluded foods. I like corn, I like mashed potatoes, corn in mashed potatoes is a warcrime
also grossed out by chewy textures like squid or fat etc, big nopes from me, also not a fan of onions most of the time, sometimes I'm a fan of them, but that's usually because I don't even notice them
Mushrooms have the consistency of phlegm I cannot swallow them or chew them. I love the taste though so I make alot of mushroom soups and sauces.
Onions should not be crunchy when cooked right they should be undetectable in texture but full of flavour.
I'm exactly the same with mushrooms. A mushroom sauce without pieces in it ? awesome. Actual pieces of mushrooms to eat ? the consistency makes me wanna puke.
Opposite with onions for me, they're the one vegetable I loved even as a kid.
But soda? Every time I drank it I felt like I got chemical burns in my mouth. Took years to get used to it and thankfully I never formed a habit with it.
soda is the worst. i remember i was on a long car ride with family and my only option to drink when i was really thirsty was soda. drinking it was literally painful
That's why I'm the only one around me who will drink soda that's gone flat. It's the same thing minus the horrible feeling.
I have ARFID, so calling me a picky eater would be both a massive understatement and also pretty offensive.
I have no idea why this is, but almost all food is disgusting to me. It's like dog food. It's pretty soul crushing, plus I've never seen it in the media presented as anything other than something to ridicule.
Mushrooms and fat, for texture reasons. I like anything high in fat or cream of mushroom soup, though.
I like Indian food now, but having not even smelled it before, the first time my friend made it I couldn't stand to be in the room. Once I knew it tasted good I was mostly fine.
I had a violent, embarrassing reaction to that fake liquid smoke taste the first few times I ate at barbecue restaurants. My dad is a grill/smoker guy so I had definitely eaten smoked meats before.
My main problem is new smells/tastes. I had a lot more exposure to different foods than most Americans, or I might only be eating burgers and chicken nuggets.
