Looking at this I would watch for a Sunday and Wednesday mornings around 10am. I would expect that in 9 hours there's going to be a jump. I noticed on Jan 31 that doge was trending on twitter. And they were all like "shucks I guess we're trending again, better buy some doge". That stank of astroturfing to me. I rode the bump on the 31st and made (literally) a few bucks. But after seeing the tweet thing it felt like a scam. So I haven't played since. I would be interested to match the dips and peaks up with activity on reddit crypto subs and twitter. Sunday morning is prime time for astroturfing because reddit get such high traffic during that time.
If there is some manipulation going on, that doesn't mean it's not profitable. But it's a very fickle game. It doesn't really make sense to do non-random dumps or buys if you're trying to manipulation the prices. If you could consistently boost the price and ride the waves, then it would show up in the charts and people would instantly see the pattern. I don't think they're pushing a big button that says "line go up" to do this. But if their social media game is strong enough, it could be almost as good. If the people doing it are dumb or just don't care about hiding it, I'd watch for the pattern to continue.
