Hello fellow swine.

I am interested in improving my history knowledge about the Balkans and am looking for any good books on the area. Specifically, I'd love to read more about Albania and its experiences under Hoxha (not about Hoxha specifically or his writings, more like a general history of the country). I'd also love a good book about Yugoslavia that isn't just about the war, lord knows there are plenty of those.

Thanks people, u da best

I'd recommend the Black Lamb and the Gray Falcon. It's by a British writer who toured Yugoslavia on the eve of WWII. Part travologue, part history, part time capsule of an era. Just a fantastic book.
