Yes just saying communism good or bad probably won't change hearts and minds but unchecked pro-capitalist and pro-imperialist messages bombarding consumers of social and mainstream media absolutely portrays the status quo as the only acceptable scenario with no alternatives.

Sharing memes has a low bar of entry and a high reach depending on the platform shared, for example posting a meme to your cities subreddit would have had big reach in your local area for very little effort. Other subs or platforms with more global viewers could also be used instead.
Running an inperson leftist event like a comedy show takes a lot of effort, potentially money and will very likely only attract an already radicalised section of people. Watering down the message to appeal to a wider audience is possible but not ideal and attracting a wider audience means there is a higher risk of physical confrontation.
