As much as I acknowledge and appreciate Dorian Electra's artistic exploration of cringe, I can't enjoy it at all. For some reason I find it pretty cringey.
I'm talking about how Dorian's My Agenda album was a very intentional examination of male cringe culture tropes. It examined things like m'lady guys, edgelords, samurai sword guys, fedora guys etc. I'd make a case for their involvement on this song being an extension of that, as I think the huge cultural backlash against the original release of Friday was about how cringey it was, and revisiting the song 10 years later is a reflection on that. I'm not at all referring to the way Dorian presents themself.
