The Southeast. Someone came into my first period class to tell the teacher. She told us some bombs had gone off in buildings. After a few minutes she turned on the news and we all saw the towers. The rest of the class was watching the news. Then we went for our second class and it was quiet as fuck. Parents started picking up kids. People were asking to leave class to call their relatives up North. At some point the principal came over the loud speaker and said teachers should turn off the TVs and get back to teaching class. By that time I was in a different class and my teacher was furious. He was one of the coaches so you can imagine an angry coach guy. He gave us a quick pep talk about how the world can be scary but it's worth knowing about and then he kept ranting about how we need to be seeing this because it was history. Then by the time I got to my afternoon class yet another teacher was like fuck it, we're watching this no matter what the principal says. She gave us a talk about how it's not their place to tell her what to do during her time. And she let students leave class if they wanted to. I got a call from my dad on my nokia brick in the afternoon that I was to come straight home after school and not go to my friend's house.

Zoomers don't know how crazy that shit was. There was such a delay in information compared to now. And nobody knew what to do. You had every reaction from this is the end of the world to this is some kind of prank.
