Of course not, it contains ham which isn't food and as such isn't food per definition :vegan-edge:
Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.
I have a loaf of bread in my house. If you were to draw a straight line between my loaf of bread and every slice of meat on the planet earth, it is almost a statistical certainty that, in at least one case, if you extended that line past the slice of meat you would hit another loaf of bread. Thus, these loaves of bread create a sandwich. Due to the abundance of loaves of bread and slices of meat in the world, it is safe to say that nearly every loaf of bread is currently creating a sandwich with another loaf of bread somewhere else on the planet.
All hell breaks loose when you stand the sandwich up or consider the implications of non-binary quantities of bread or filling.
There ain't no rule saying a sandwich needs to be good.
This is a sandwich.
The real question we must ask ourselves is the inverse a sandwich? A large pork roast between two thin slices of bread, that is what'll test the bounds of what is and isn't a sandwich.
It doesn't have to be a good sandwich to fill the definition of sandwich. This is definitely not a good sandwich.
if a sandwich cannot be eaten in the common style, it is not a sandwich, but bread served with toppings
