  • Wouldn't a simulation of our reality necessitate that the "simulator" existed in a more complex reality than our own? Because while we might make a convincing display of realistic "stuff" we are not anywhere, anywhere at all, near being able to accurately simulate all of the spectacular details that are included in something as small as a living room. Just the amount of data you would need to accurately catalog all of the atoms in that room, their composition, their temperature, the forces they're experiencing and their interactions with each other... it quickly scales up to a functionally infinite amount of data.

It seems like the best that we could ever hope for is to create a simpler version of our own reality, which would mean that the reality which birthed ours must be more complex, no?

  • The new Day of the Jackal show is full of liberal brainrot about an MI6 agent who just has to get an innocent child killed and then keep on getting more people killed in a series of ludicrously bungled operations, but she feels super dooper sorry about it and she just really wants to get the bad guy! angery

I genuinely can't tell if I'm supposed to see the agent chasing the assassin as a villain or not, like I have to assume I'm supposed to empathize with her character and think that she's the good guy, because all mainstream cop schlock is written from the lib perspective of trying to excuse all the crimes that police agencies actually commit by inventing insane circumstances to justify them and then pretending that that somehow makes their actual real life behavior acceptable. But her character is straight up loathsome, and I just want the assassin to garrote her or something.

Whatever. The assassination bits are kinda cool. So far a resounding "meh."
