Yeah so basically I'm like 6 sessions into a campaign as a Druid, 3.5E. So far it's a fairly standard world, midevil or whatever - my char is from basically a communist utopia that produces most of the food for the rest of the Isle. Other cities are under the monarchy. Seems like a pretty politically stable land as of now.
Anyways, I want to think up some good char development & I've already gotten my shit kicked in trying to rescue a monkey in a crate that some asshole who ferried us had stolen from one of the neighboring isles. I got shot down trying to gank it from them when we made land, probably should have just murdered the captain before we made landfall but thought I could pull some trickery.
Anyways, I'm in a party with good characters - I'm neutral good - meaning I don't really give a shit one way or the other about the law. So I figure early on I want to free horses that are stabled (send em to the Naobi plains nearby where they can be free) and basically be a standard adventurer who will waste anybody who fucks with animals. Gonna be fun when I get some good lvls & can talk to the animals.
Anyways - any suggestions for this kind of char? Do I start a horse thieving ring that ultimately leads to horses being freed? Like hit me with some good suggestions
Fuckin libs, perfect sandbox to show em the folley of their ways though 😎
Yeah, as a Druid being able to straight up ask the animals if they're being treated right & take corrective measures if not is 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Even if it doesn't inform the overall campaign or whatever its certainly a fun side-encounter thing to be doing on the semi regular. I reckon my party would get a bit meh about wasting folks for it since one of em is a lawful good monk but a good clash of ideals isn't always a bad thing in a campaign 😉

This is an incredible idea and druid John Brown is absolutely being written into my campaign this very second. I think the best way is to ease that character in by doing things like rescuing the poor boat monkey and taking animals like dogs and horses from abusive owners (maybe even just buying them and having a herd that just follows you to safe places), but definitely ramp up to awakening horses and organising a rebellion at the stables and farms as soon as one or two party members start sharing your views or at least going along with it. Basically give your DM the chance to tell you this to cool it before you go start arming the messenger pigeons, but if they're cool with it go ham in a way that seems to follow the dm's plot. Also consider if your druid wants to set up any sort of conservation authority by the plains to make sure someone doesn't get wise and start poaching all the freed animals for their own profit (or decide not to so your DM can make you deal with it, your call).
Totally, that's my plan - like free some abused horses from the stables or fuck up a fence & show the mistreated animals out at low level and kind of grow into it as time goes on.
Reckon my hometown could be a great sanctuary for mistreated animals if the thing develops - they're an agrarian communist Druid utopia of vegans so it'd be a totally natural evolution actually.
I think the party is pretty down, they totally backed me hardcore on the monkey in a box situation.
Really great call, that's a lovely way to have the thing grow 🤙
