If you're not aware, Sarah Everard went missing in London last week, then a body was found a week later (now confirmed to be hers, unfortunately), and a policeman arrested on suspicion of her murder.

Anyway, it has sparked an online conversation about womens' safety, among other related things, including this tweet and its replies.

Basically, a woman sold a mirror to a man online, gave him her phone number and address so he could pick it up, he picks it up, then he texts her to call her beautiful an hour later (he may have still been outside in his car).

The replies are not pretty as you'd expect.

The worst reply must be this one. Wow indeed.

And some others:

  1. Imagine if the roles were reversed you wouldn’t have a problem but because its a man suddenly it’s creepy I bet if men stopped complementing women y’all would be having a tantrum saying men aren’t nice or some bs like that quit the double standard #TooManyWomen #TooManyMen

  2. All he did was compliment you, how are men supposed to find their soulmate if they are treated like a creep for complimenting a woman? Sheesh...If a woman complimented me I wouldn't feel scared for my life?

  3. Oh no, a male made a pass at you. You can block him, or report him to the police for #sexcrime. \Or you can just do what Feminists PROMISED to do, and leave. Go, make a female only country, I dare ya! \Not one bloody bag packed in sixty years ...

  4. what was the ethnicity of this man

  5. women like u are why i never even say hello to women anymore.. too afraid to even make eye contact and always look down at the floor when im iin a shop. just because the guy has no game doesnt mean he's going to kill you. get a grip and get over yourself

  6. Lol he cappin you ugly as hell

  7. You're more ugly in person then? x)

  8. He’s lying anyway, you’re ugly

  9. Yet if he was a good looking guy, you probably wouldn’t give a fuck at all. Men can’t even compliment women anymore, you’re not oppressed you are just self victimising yourself. Lame asf

There's a lot of, "How will men hook up if they can't compliment women!" As if there's no way to do that without leaving a text after buying a mirror from them.

You know, I'm starting to think maybe the cops aren't the good guys...

Anyway, what a gross thread. Shit like this is why I don't have Twitter.

I often think about the shit cops do both on and off the clock that has no record and it scares me. They all abuse their power, no exceptions.

      It gets worse too.

The Metropolitan police are to face an inquiry into whether the force properly investigated a claim of indecent exposure involving the suspect in the alleged murder of Sarah Everard, just days before the marketing executive disappeared.

PC Wayne Couzens has been arrested on suspicion of the kidnap and murder of Everard. He has also been arrested on suspicion of an indecent exposure involving another woman, and this is the incident that will be investigated by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

The alleged indecent exposure happened on 28 February, at a fast food restaurant in south London.

Everard disappeared after leaving a friend’s house in the south of the capital at about 9pm on 3 March and beginning a 50-minute walk home.

You aren't on a date you fucking dolt, there's a time and a place for finding a soulmate, during a business transaction isn't one of them.

Yeah that's what confuses me. I get that dating and flirting can be a bit of a minefield but surely people can figure out that hitting on someone when u are going round theirs to buy something is really fucking creepy?

And yeah actually I would be creeped out if a woman did the same thing. Selling stuff online to strangers and having them come over to pick it up is basically trusting a stranger with your address. Manipulating that to hit on them is always gonna be very creepy.
