I heard about YT Revanced because it has no ads. then i saw they had TikTok revanced. It removes ads, lets you block all Tiktok lives(i fucking hate 99% of them) and it lets you set the minimum likes/views a video needs to show up, so i don't get random people who have 1 like on their shitty video.
I think you have to download the APKs from revanced.app but goddamn has it make YT and Tiktok better.

the only ones i ever kinda wanted to see what MAYBE a person playing a video game. But now i never have to see an "NPC" again, and i never have to see the lives where someone is just selling shit. make sure you go to revanced.app to download the APK. There is a little bit of setup involved but its very worth it.

You have to download the YT and TikTok APKS from APK Mirror. Also for TikTok i had to use an older version, but the Revanced app tells you the suggested version.
Yes, a random zero-rizz person playing a video game with 4 people watching is literally 10 times better than almost any other TikTok live video. It's a truly broken system - not infested by but essentially solely composed of - scams, fraud, and fake engagement

From my understanding, Revanced is pretty much safe from lawsuits since they aren't providing hacked APKs and aren't infringing on intellectual property. That was the reason Youtube Vanced was shut down.

I mean I don't know how you ended up on Lemmy in the first place but there's usually only two groups 1) privacy and 2)reddit protests. The more you interact on the platform, you realize lots of the privacy stuff and might consider leaving tik tok. I would say if you still want to use tik tok in a more private manner, try using it through proxitok.

Technically you can build your own APK from the sources here if you're particularly paranoid, but I understand most will just download from the website. Just casual reminder to never trust Google when searching for stuff like revanced because their top results are always malware.
