The desired reading of the phrase "humanitarian pause" is to convey "temporary ceasefire to allow for civilian evacuation," but knowing the US & Israel, it probably means "ceasing what miniscule humanitarian aid makes its way into Gaza."
The IDF has already killed hostages in their indiscriminate crossfire. And seeing how the released hostages have openly spoken to the press about being treated humanely, I don't think they care all that much about getting those who remain out alive. It would be more effective for propaganda to let them be martyrs than risk even a slim chance of countering their narrative.
A morbid calculation I made coming home from work: the amount of bloodshed in Gaza is roughly equivalent to an Olympic sized swimming pool (i.e. 660,000 gallons). The human body holds 10.5 gallons of blood, and over 6,000 Palestinians have died so far. Now I can't stop imagining the Israeli government and its allies drowning in the blood the children they slaughtered.edit: Guys, I did the math wrong. Still, a shit ton of Palestinians have died.
If every person had 10.5 gallons of blood and 6000 people died, that would be 63,000 gallons.
But actually, a person only has around 1.5 gallons, not 10.5.
9000 gallons is more like a backyard pool than an Olympic pool.
You're right, I suck at math. Point still stands, though: the bloodshed is mind-boggling and the amount of human suffering unimaginable.
Absolutely. This shit is abominable and must be stopped.
