Side note: I have some social anxiety when it comes to small talk and outreach. But I really liked the idea behind this video and was wondering if we could try something like this here. This is already a pretty cool community and I feel like we agree on a lot. But I also have no idea how to implement this with appropriate opsec. Maybe we could make comm about it?

I guess I think of things like cat posts (shout out @Dirt_Owl as small talk for this site. The comments are chitchat that serve more of a social function than conveying information, and I think they help build a sense of community and make people feel good, kind of like what she experienced in the video. What do you think?

Cat photos are great! An internet classic. I guess I just feel like comments are a pretty abstract asynchronous form of communication. Maybe this is my criticism of social media in general. But like I haven't been able to do small talk very well via zoom (tbf mostly work related). And i'd love to practice with new people.

Edit: lol just realized you meant @Dirt_Owl 's garfield posts

lol no I didn't mean the Garfield posts. I meant the extended bit where all animals are posted as cats, and all cats are beautiful. So the owl posts are what I meant by cat posts, lol. The in jokes get so deep here.

As for practicing small talk like she did on the video, you might be able to do that on the Discord. I really hate using Discord so I'm not on it, but you might be able to set up something there.
