    Is this legal

Legality doesn't matter if someone's too rich and connected and privileged for most laws to really matter anyway.

That's another part of the story. But usually when there are existing court cases that have dealt with this subject it will be fight able. Let's just hope this garbage is over rather sooner than later.

my-hero , so far, is the tech/business world's version of trump-moist when it comes to unprecedented bumbling criminality that just doesn't result in lasting meaningful punishment. I'd like it if something horrible actually sank him or his corporate empire, but I'm not holding my breath.

There's been worse crimes out there from others, but not such garish bumbling clownish crimes like all the zone violations of the obnoxious Le Epic X corporate headquarters symbol strobe lighting some city blocks, for example.

This is such an apt comparison actually. In particular the taking Tesla private at $420 a share or whatev was such egregious market manipulation.

There's also the "betting a signed dollar" defaming of the rescue diver that actually rescued those fucking kids but my-hero was too oily and slippery from affluenza to get any consequences from that either.

All it takes is rich assholes believing in the richer asshole or at the very least having too much money already riding with the richer asshole.
