archive.today • Opinion | Please, Israel, Don’t Get Lost in Hamas’s Tunnels - The New York Times
By Thomas L. Friedman
The old title was "Israel, It's Time to Consider a Cease-fire". That's a total shit title considering this is what he actually believes...
Targeted use of force with limited [with] achievable goals may serve Israel’s long-term security and prosperity more than an open-ended war to eradicate Hamas. At least Israel should be asking that question.
He's not against open-ended war because of moral or ethical reasons. He's against it because it damages the Israeli economy and it stretches their military too thin.
Learning that Obama always made time to read this assholes work filled me with despair.
With access to the most pervasive and sophisticated spy infrastructure in existence, this dipshit is what the most powerful people on earth read and consider thoughtful and worthwhile.
An absolute condemnation of this rotten country.
I'd be shocked if Biden knew who Matty Yglesias was but I assume his fresh ideas (along with other Substack idiot "intellectuals") are well liked by Biden's aides and other important people in DC.
My favorite thing about him is that he's prone to frame his own arguments through other people. One group is the nameless man on the street and if the people don't have names - they surely don't even exist. He'll write "I was speaking to my Uber driver..." The other group is the rich and powerful. He'll say "I was chatting with billionaire Mike Shitstain's yacht on his superyacht the western Mediterranean..." and Shitstain has arguments and beliefs about the "hidden benefits of the gig economy" that perfectly mirror Friedman's own.
