Re7 went back to survival, 5 and 6 were shooters. You're right though, Re4 struck an amazing balance, leaned a bit toward combat compared to the previous games, but was still solidly survival horror. They just kept going in that direction when they should have stopped
Agreed though now it's a breeze but thats from experience. They just don't make short focused games that are easy to pick up and fun to replay as much now
Did the whole village in about three hours, for over a decade since I've played it, everything came right back. Gotta do the fucking castle next, might try to iron man it next play (QTE deaths don't count, especially on the switch. At least the GameCube had quick to recognize shapes and colours for the buttons).
They took Hustler Kid's character in a really shocking direction but it worked out in the end
