We should have them, both as celebration of what he did, and to make people more aware that the first black man in space wasn't actually from the US. I got into a dumbass argument over who the first black person in space was, and every fucking search engine was giving Guy Bluford, the first African American in space, as the only result unless you get specific (the wiki for Bluford even states he's the second person of African descent, but then doesn't specify ATM), and I was struggling to remember what his name was off the top of my head.

Searching "first black man in space":

Google: Guy Bluford is first result, though if you scroll down you can find a dropdown question-thing that answers with both, and deeper down a business insider article of all things crediting Méndez.

Bing: Bing actually gave the shittiest results here, no mention at all. I only got bing to acknowledge his existence by specifically phrasing it as "first man of african descent", such that it grabbed the wiki article for the phrasing match.

Duck: comparable with google, maybe a bit shittier. They really want to give you results for "African American" specifically.

Absolute legend. There's lots of good photos of him with Castro, but I like this one as a sort wholesome variant of the sicko emoji.
