My jaw dropped when I read about the Bolsheviks walking out of a meeting of the provisional government, knowing the Petrograd (I think) sailors had just mutinied and workers all over the city just went on strike. These huge unions organized by the Bolsheviks were marching and coming to arrest the Mensheviks that insisted on continuing the war. The bourgeois militias were surrounded.

People on the street were enraged that pogroms had been used to divide them. Nationalism, for a moment, had completely lost its power.
