According to Politico, Ocasio-Cortez donated $160,000 to 32 “frontline” Democrats, a list that includes many prominent “CIA Democrats,” former representatives of the Pentagon and intelligence agencies.
Nah, it makes perfect sense. AOC wants to protect the Democratic majority but doesn't want to harm left primary challengers. Because the DCCC funds centrist Dems against both progressives and Republicans, giving money to the DCCC would hurt the left. But giving money to centrist Dems in red seats who aren't facing left primary challengers protects the majority without harming the left. It's good politics.
You can see the logic behind it: it's not a blank check to the DCCC, but it's not total opposition to the party, either. She's split this among a bunch of races that might go red in 2022. If she just cut a $160K check to the DCCC they could just as easily throw all that money at some candidate in a safe blue seat who's facing a primary challenger from the left.
Nah it makes sense. If she gave money to the DCCC they could spend it however they want, including funding centrists over progressive primary challengers. By giving money to the candidates directly, she can both protect the majority without harming left primary challengers. This is smart politics.
The sophomore New York Democrat spent years at loggerheads with the campaign arm and is among several progressives who have refused to pay member dues to DCCC, in part because of its treatment of liberal primary challengers. Her current round of donations alone — an intended total of $160,000 — amount to more than half of Ocasio-Cortez’s entire dues goal for the 2020 cycle, according to a dues report obtained by POLITICO.
So she didn't pay dues to the DCCC but gave money directly to the candidates they support. Kinda bizarre
Edit: It makes sense now, thanks for the explanations
This imo is some mass accounting screw up by her aides.

Ah that's an excellent point. She's supporting the Dems in vulnerable seats without hurting the left primary challengers in the safer seats
