  • I think the question is still worth answering: Was it really necessary?

From my perspective it was not an issue that needed to be addressed given the political makeup of the site, and ultimately what it did was cool conversation across the board because it made what was acceptable posting (or upvoting due to the timing) ambiguous, and ultimately just wasted good will by infantilizing users

  • Giving the users the opportunity to participate how the communities should be divided and what they should be named would've been best served as a public discussion.

I'm pretty sure this was what the vast majority of the complaints about this move were about, and they were all consistently ignored in the moment, or in some cases were brushed aside with accusations of 'You just like the racist old name.' It was a demonstration in why it's pointless for users to bother if they disagree with the choices being made behind the scenes- at best you get ignored, at worst people with the ability to ban you start maligning you.

I played before all the DLC had been released so I didn't get the full story, I also haven't played any Max Payne games so I think I was missing a little bit story-wise from the jump. Still enjoyed the vibes immensely but fully agree on the criticisms of the story. The solution to this metaphysical alphabet agency which kidnaps and disappears children is just to put someone new in the director's chair.

Has all this suffering and horror been for nothing?

I feel like the worldbuilding basically says yes

I wonder what 'training' is to people like this, I assume it's just buying another 500 dollar attachment for their AR that gets used once then never touched again
