In San Antonio, drunk drivers frequently got onto highways going the wrong direction. This happened so frequently that the city installed radar-activated flashing red lights onto the big, red, reflective "wrong way" signs that already existed. That seems worse than anything that happened back home, at least in terms of a policy response. But anecdotes aren't data. :shrug-outta-hecks:

in rural areas this is stripped away and you see the US for what it really is; a shit painted gold (sorry to offend shit).

Haha, I got to watch a dude who transplanted from NYC to San Antonio learn this first-hand as we drive thru rural Texas to a client's office. He was literally agape at what he saw just from the road, which was two-lane and paved, which is to say that we were just scratching the surface.

I hadn't realized until that point just how much some people (probably most of us) live in their own bubble.

Yeah that sounds right. Literal drop in the bucket.

Of course, it's not really meant for us, hence "strategic." But they do this shit anyway.

Probably. It's headline generating bullshit, as I recall from prior SPR releases. If prices go down, it's not because of this increasing supply.

  • China’s new nuclear weapons

They don't even have any! They've built a bunch of silos, which most experts believe are empty and will be for some time. They've tested a hypersonic vehicle, but it's currently (as far as anyone knows) not armed with a nuclear warhead.

But the western media will exaggerate and lie.

China almost certainly is interested in sharpening the edge of their nuclear deterrent, and rightfully so, obviously. There is zero indication that they want to build an offensive, first strike-capable nuclear force. They continue to have a No First-Use policy, which the US does not. The NYT will bury that fact at the end of any relevant article they write on the topic.

Access to better bars + clubs for 2 hours of fun oblivion at the weekend?

Had some kind of epiphany the other day about this. Why visit another city? What, drink in a different overpriced bar? Eat in some restaurant with slightly different decor than what you're used to? It's all the same, not even talking about the homogenous chain establishments.

Museums are about the only good reason I can come up with. And one day that's going to lead me to goddamn Dayton, Ohio.
