  • My current "paladin" (zealot barbarian) is an extremely thinly veiled Fantasy Catholic and i fully encourage you to go that way when you can, its great. You can use it for comedy, commentary, tragedy, or all of the above, whatever. My guy is an ignorant spoiled prissy bastard but he's been raised and educated explicitly to fill the precarious position of model minority within the church. His privilege hinges on supporting empire and desperately believing unserious contradictory shit that hurts people (including sometimes him). His dumbassery is funny but becomes crushingly depressing whenever we accidentally think about his circumstances for more than 30 seconds 🥰 the rest of the party's reactions when he occasionally gets his leash yanked is always great fun

If you do a more serious interpretation, the mental gymnastics and willful ignorance you get to play with are genuinely wonderful, and if you want to take it in more of a jokey direction then you have a great real-life foundation to build comedy on that everyone else at the table is familiar with. i love your 2nd christian "hey check out this hot new thing my buddy mike invented - its called 'papal supremacy'. yeah, he's the papal, why do you ask?" thing too, very fun.

  • when hades 2 dropped everyone was freaking out about how Aphrodite must be trans because of her jawline, i assume its more of that. even when they do get the half naked skinny woman they say they want, they'll still invent shadows to jump at. its not about whats actually happening, its about how chuds want to feel (persecuted and righteously furious)
