Barn owls are incredibly beautifull but I have yet to see one myself, however we have a resident long eared owl sitting just a few meters away from my window on a tree. He/she's also a real cutie.

·3 years agoThere was a recent discussion on the ZeroBooks YT channel about the connection between Marxism and the Black (American) struggle. Gist of it was essentially that African Americans as the primary discriminated racial/social group are essentially the reserve army of capitalism. That exchange was way more insightful than this reductive approach to race relations as a mere caste system.

To be fair, stock markets and values are pretty much entirely detached from reality by now, bc the fed is printing money en masse and buying corporate bonds, keeping them from failing and enables those ludicrous gains. ·4 years agoI don't view his theory of bullshit jobs as an absolute explainer and critique (since it came from a rather random observation, with massive feedback & confirmation) but rather as a good example of how corporate neoliberalism has reached a level of absurdity and internal crisis, that should be abolished ASAP. The only real criticism I have with it, is that it treats the solution of this less as a political struggle and more as a organizational problem, cuz in the end capital has to be confronted and destroyed. Anyway, it's still a good contribution for the left.
