I don't think Toby is homophobic anyway -- there are two openly gay relationships in the game and even a character who could be perceived as trans (Mettaton). He definitely seems okay with LGBT folk.

Got any examples? Alphys is very insecure in general, and insecure about liking Undyne because she thinks Undyne is cooler than her. I don't think her being a woman had anything to do with it

It's definitely a simple idea but there's a lot of (mostly apathetic) people out there who don't really think or care about these issues at all, and if video game analogies can help them understand the extent to which it's a problem then I'm all for it lol
