I don't really see the war being a material net benefit for Russian workers, not within a time frame we can reasonably speculate on. I guess this whole thing is a victory of the Russian military and intelligence over the billionaire "oligarchs", most of which would have preferred to just make money, and maybe that's good? Looks like a lateral move to me.
I don't know if Europe can deal with the energy crisis and the existing social and economic issues. But the Atlanticist politicians will try to cut all ties to Russia, even if a million have to freeze, and I don't think they would dare to even try that without the war. Full impoverishment and deindustrialisation of Western Europe isn't in Russia's rational interest either, but that's what they might get.
How the war itself goes seems tertiary to me aside from the immense human suffering of course.
At least it's benefitting China which is nice.

Given that Americans approve, endorse, glorify and justify shooting people in almost any situation, why don't they simply shoot people sentenced to death?

I've started seeing Ami-style pickups in Germany. Largely in a rural area where a small flatbed truck might actually be useful, but those are huge to fuckhuge, brand new and perfectly clean, and all have that disgusting SUV "face". And of course you have to put a dumb little roof over the back because it's wet around here so the storage isn't even very big.
Personally I blame VW for no longer producing an affordable Pritschenwagen, especiallly a nice small frugal one like the T2. But I also hope this doesn't mean the bad German car culture is becoming identical with the even worse US one.

I recommend skimming the article before drawing conclusions; the Ukrainian paper in question is not really speculating on the nature of those objects. It's clear however that they're not planes. Maybe missiles + measuring errors, or unknown side-effects of electronic counter measures/decoys/anti-radar tech?
