It's pretty much about how the end of history (and the last man) was dumb and wrong and libs are fools to think that centrist "ideology" is the be-all end-all. One of the coolest points in the video, I think, is pointing out that Alpha Centauri has a kind of default "good guy" faction, the UN Peacekeepers, who are supposed to represent the neolib status quo. BUT whereas that faction would usually be presented as such, instead it is presented as just one of many ideologies, in no way superior, in a way that clashes pretty seriously with the 90's consensus.

Yeah that was disappointing. All the new factions added in the expansion are kinda like that. The core factions from the first game were a little more coherent.

Part of the reason I was so pleasantly surprised by the second one, I was waiting for the twist to be Oliver North guy is just in it for the money.

But what I got instead was the special forces group here to rescue everyone ALSO being fucking fascists who join the bad guys. And Ollie North makes a speech about "stopping the dominoes falling".
