It's the premise of the militarists, fundamentalists, and capitalists being opposed to each other, rather than just teaming up like in today's world.

    Ya it's always been one of my favorite games but there's some... Ideology at work there.. Like the nominally socialist free drones suffer a penalty to research because "blue sky" science projects are against their belief system. ...what? It's a worker state but all they care about is maximizing industrial productivity? Not like the ussr invented the space satellite and successfully launched the first humans into orbit. It's weird

      Yeah that was disappointing. All the new factions added in the expansion are kinda like that. The core factions from the first game were a little more coherent.
