Why not? I feel like lemmy is overall a less restrictive environment.
Reminder that you're likely making less money than people "back in the day".
I've had bad mental health breaks but this is still a good outcome overall.
Imagine being in poor mental state and still having to work, I'd take the break any day.
I believe people tend to be like this when they first start having hobbies later into their life.
For instance I played guitar when I was 10 and I sucked for a good four or five years but now I'm decent.
When I started learning piano I was very aware at how much I sucked but I had the wisdom now of knowing that it would take long to become good at piano.
I think people who don't have that early introduction to skills and crafts struggle with impatience from not understanding that everything takes time.
Memes that hurt the image of Linux makes me sad.
I don't know a single ui person or artist that gives a single f about open source.
I think as a dev you naturally grow to respect the open source space because of how much you take from it.
I would love to be proven wrong though
Not necessarily. It's in my contract that I can take short breaks whenever and that includes looking at my phone.
Where do you work that you don't seem to have a single shred of freedom?
I work as a software dev. I occasionally browse lemmy but I don't "get paid to look at it".
Ah. Yes this is the perfect excuse for when my coworkers and managers walk by.
Cheaters are sociopaths. Most of them pretend to be good and post clips or try to get a following until they inevitably get banned.
Every script kiddie says this same thing. There are already HvH servers. Barely anyone plays them. If a company had official HvH it would encourage cheating. Fuck cheaters..
There many ways of doing things in react and some are faster than others. I would abuse state and use effect at my old job but at this job my sr dev doesn't allow me to use useffect unless the situation warrants it.
I learned about how much I didn't understand react on my 2nd dev job. I had like 2yoe with react previously. There's a lot about it. Mostly tricks. hacks and work arounds for it's abysmal performance.
I know you guys are technical and smart. Can you explain to me how secure https is in terms of privacy. I heard that isps can track which domain you're hitting but not the exact endpoint, is this true ? Where can I read more about this sort of thing?
This is such a fake and dumb story and largely why 4chan post 2005 is so shallow. These kids don't have the writing skills to write anything remotely convincing
My pastor was kind of a dick. Im a guitarist and my parents wanted me to join the church music group and I "auditioned". They gave a non standard chord sheet and didnt say a word to me for an hr and a half.
So yeah fuck those guys.
She just like me fr
I have never googled anyone's name or GitHub account. But I'd also be paranoid if I were you to be honest. I don't think your career is fucked though
Also this just looks like bad code, not a limiting feature of the language.
