yea i think he is trying to get across that despite being "socialist" the current goal (whether this is the best path or not being unclear obviously) isn't to redistribute wealth by buttressing people's material wealth but rather to create robust social systems.

obviously there is extreme wealth disparity if you compare the most economically active to the least economically active and you could argue for much stricter redistribution but im not a chinese demsoc so i assume that they just have a good reason for it :party-blob:
