the optimist in me sees that hoxha and the albanian communists rose to prominence espousing albanian nationalism in opposition to the cultural oppression they faced under the ottoman empire :dean-smile:

the doomer sees that hoxha's fascist opposition also rose to prominence espousing albanian nationalism :dean-frown:

i don't know enough to even begin to dig deeper :trans-sad: also every single wikipedia page just has a hole in the history from like 1940-1991 :1984:

I believe it's a "Albania actually has parts of Serbia, Kosova, Croatia, etc in it" kinda think. So, ethnic nationalism

This is typically what it means nowadays. I dated a woman my first year in college who was from the newly formed Croatia, and she talked like this when she was mad about Serbs or whatever.

In hindsight, not a great relationship, but I was young and dumb and she let me touch her boobies. My standards have thankfully improved since then. :shrug-outta-hecks:

Lol that's funny, it's funny what ethno nationalism does to people, except for Albanians who are actually correct about greater albania 🇦🇱 :hoxha-turt: 🇦🇱
