  • TBH this makes more sense than all those random high-end sponsors you see in football. For example my team Liverpool FC's sponsor is a finance company called Standard Chartered. I don't even know what the fuck Standard Chartered do. Some fatcat international banking shit? Our older sponsors were a beer company, two home electronics companies, and at one point a local paint company.

Papa John's Trophy reminds me of the days of the old Coca Cola Cup, Worthington Cup, etc in that it's actually a relevant product to the (traditionally) working class viewership of football. You scum like soft drinks and beer, right? Buy my overpriced pizza while you're at it. At least the capitalist predators are laid bare.

  • There is always work to be done, but Greeks should be proud of the steps taken so far. Take a look at countries like the UK or Italy who have capitulated to the far-right with very little pushback, and disastrous consequences. You can always count on Greeks to hit the streets, protest, and make results like this happen. From the very docile and apathetic UK political scene I admire this quality.

  • A few years back, when Golden Dawn were consolidating their power amidst the debt crisis, so many short-sighted Westerners sneered at Greece, as if it was going to be an isolated incident that would only happen in an inferior southern country. Now the far-right are running rampant across Europe. It's nice to see Greece leading the way in anti-fascism. It is possible. May we see the same in other countries soon.
