Having a job with the right level of challenges, and freedom to approach it how one want, is the best job to have. I've worked at a place like that for more than a decade now. I could probably move on to better paid jobs, but I'm hesitant to let go of my current workplace.
First winter in a long while that hasn't been hell, the new anti-depressants stopped my winter depression. And even helped a bit against my year round depression.
I've started a weekly swimming session too. Haven't been good at following it after the snow came, but its still progress.
Then they are already smarter than the average Mangalore.

I'm still waiting for a bigger patch. I think they've been uncharacteristically slow at putting out fixes and that has cost them player count. Nothing they cant still fix. If I were them I wouldn't release any content patches to get players back until the base game is less buggy. Might make players dismiss the game entirely if they return and the same bugs are there.
Damn. Spot on. Not a farm, but a proper house in a rural area with outside space enough for various crafting projects. And a garden. And a cat.
Im dead tired of living in a 5x3 firstfloor apartment with a single window and an outside area under tight control by a HOA. Teenage me enjoyed cramped, spartan living arrangements. Now if only I had money enough.
When you have a place to live and can afford a bucket of candy, I think it is an obligation to everyone who wants this tradition to continue to stay at home (yours or someone else if youre having a halloween party) and give out candy to the kids and compliment their costumes.
But other than that, nah, no age limit as long as you can still say thanks and enjoy it.

I'm looking forward to return to it.. As soon as im done with Alan Wake, AC Mirage, BG3, Cities Skylines 2, and Cyberpunk 2077 PL. Jeez, what a few great gaming months it has been.
I've always felt theres multiple sides to Microsoft. Theres devs making a damn good and simple product. Then comes the enterprise devs that over-engineer the product. Then theres the marketing coming in and try to buy up competition or bundle the product with other products to force it on people (MS way of advertising). And THEN the suits either ruin the product for money or shutting it down for not either making enough money or for not helping their enterprise products make money (like for example VSCode is a product that helps MS make money on Azure).
Browsers. Firefox hasnt given me reason to doubt. Yet. And I find that odd. Still uses it. Because every other big browser have given me reasons.
Generally "free" stuff from big companies is giving me more and more the heebie-jeebies. Even if they have good reputation. But there's NO WAY I could ever pay for everything I use. Nor donate to every deserving person who has given their free time to create and publish FOSS.
If all it took was a terrible explosion to discourage you, probably good you never took that route.

Now I'm a senior fullstack software developer. And it is honestly fun to chase bugs, no matter if they're my bugs or someone elses. Also I didn't need any university education for this. Went IT trade school, learned programming myself, got job as 1st line phone support, then was promoted to developer when I found and fixed bugs before it reached the devs.
Still would have loved to go the librarian path too. Maybe in the next life.
My screen isn't there to show of devs design abilities. Generic and uninspired flat design is there to let me work.
(but I agree that it is a wrong way and a right way to do flat design)
Talking about overlays on top of content: Videoplayer overlays! Pops up every time the mouse move a pixel, darken the entire screen for some stupid reason, sometimes with some text or a huge play/pause icon, and sometimes just refuse to disappear until you've focused and unfocused the window again or done some other mystical ritual.
I LOVE flat and square design, but even I must admit you aren't wrong.
Must be better ways of doing it. Preferable without google's material design's over-reliance on shadows and floating stuff.

If a billionaire (or a very big bunch of millionaires) out of the goodness of their heart (yeah, not gonna happen) threw a massive amount of money into advertising for a open source product they dont own, Lemmy could be as or more popular. Even if it has fewer features. Even if its uglier. Even if its more complicated.
I can't count the many times I've seen the worser product has won out because it had big corpo ad budget. Turned me a bit cynical.
Would love rain that made one see the water roll of the roofs in a dynamic way, even at a bit of distance or while under cover. Not necessarily simulated or volumetric, I dont mind cheats and cardboard tricks to make it look good and performant.
Of course nobody want to optimize. Its boring. It messes up the code. Often reqires one to cheat the player with illusions. And its difficult. Not something just any junior developer can be put to work on.
Given up entirely, or are you hoping we all join a hive mind to solve our problems?
They are all named some variant of "tutorial_Ch01" or "testprogram" probably. And one repository named "My Unnamed MMO" (or some other overly complex but trendy genre) that has like 12 lines of code so far and a crappy drawn pixelart png.
