I'm not going to call somebody a lib over it, but honestly the people saying it's mostly privileged white dudes who are abandoning the Biden shit does bother me. I'm not white, sure as hell not rich and by all measures would be tossed in whatever camp they'd make if the time ever came along with nearly everyone I know, but that kinda stuff has always felt like internet melodrama to me. Like I know that at my worst points when I couldn't even really screw around on websites like this neither I or anyone around me gave a shit about people like Biden and it would just feel like bullshit if Biden voters thought they were championing me somehow. We know statistically it's the people in the worst positions that think none of this matters and don't vote and anecdotally that has always been my experience.

If someone thinks Biden will legitimately help them, then yeah, go for it. I don't really have a problem with that as much as the framing of all this as a broader last ditch effort or something when most of the people who really would die from anything Trump or Biden might do are already completely alienated from the electoral game to begin with.

  • Biden supporters, I'm on your side. It is of the utmost importance that all candidates have access to votes this election season. There's good, hard working, honest American votes out there of all kinds. Votes I've grown up with, some of them I've made myself. The other guy will tell you to lose faith in these votes, make you doubt yourselves and give up. He'll say things like "don't vote twice that's illegal" or "you need to go to an official polling place" but I believe in this country. I believe all votes matter.

  • One of the interesting things about this is them deliberately ignoring the timeline of Obama's second term where between Freddie Gray, Trayvon, Mike Brown, and the Kaepernick protest you had some kind of major protest kicking off literally every year including the months right before the election. They ran the same exact playbook where Pelosi, Obama, and Hillary at best managed to both sides things and then Hillary actually did lose necessary black support in the general.

It's really obvious where this is all going and they are trying so hard to avoid the obvious conclusion that the democratic party isn't part of the modern civil rights movement when for every practical and moral reason it should be.

  • It's useless at this point. If there's one thing campaign work taught me it's that the average democrat has a real emotional devotion to this stuff, but all of it is tied into the absolute lowest effort actions possible. They basically look at the young activist , the ads, the media, convince themselves it's handled and check the fuck out. Biden voter will look at you like you asked them for a kidney if you try to get them to put half the effort Trump's people do.
