    I remember someone I was arguing with in Twitter saying that some landlords have to pay rent too. Which is hilarious because of course the rent moratorium would help them too. So what's the issue?

    Yeah I remember reading that and it was a really introspective piece that really made me think about difficult ethical questions. Because obviously what happened to her was messed up but he wasn't the one at fault for that.

    Not that Stalin specifically was right, I don't know enough about the specifics of his actions. My point is that either you make peace with someone or you don't and you remove their ability to pose a threat to you. So if someone can be trusted to support you, it's ok to leave them with power. However if someone will always be working against you unless you leave them with an amount of power you deem unacceptable you should completely defang them.

    Beyond what everyone else said. It also bears mentioning that many native american tribes weren't fully subjugated until the mid to late 1800s. Even later when we consider places like Alaska and Hawaii.
