tbh I think this is more to do with the tech industry than the games they make. you see this shit in every aspect of tech, from game dev down to just boring office work. tech is an absolutely toxic place for women, ethnic minoities, and anybody who isn't cis het

Yeah true. But there's also a lot of self-proclaimed history fans that are literally just MIC apologists or anti-communists or fascists. That was who I mainly referred to.

There are also those, like me, who always try to make the world red in these games.

I am a bit surprised because this happens in Sweden, but not too surprised because these cultures of harassment seem to be everywhere.

there are ofc, but don't lose the forest for the trees. there are far bigger general trends and social forces than just a loud group of Gamers

Yeah, there are plenty of based history lovers like us, even if there are also cringe ones :very-smart:

Such is true of all things I suppose. Tech industry is pretty bad rn ofc, needs to change suddenly

What makes the tech industry so horrible for women and minorites? Is it because it's a traditionally white male dominated field and the culture surrounding that?

Lots of money, lots of turnover, and the folks at the top are completely insulated from consequences.

Add in the simple fact that women have been commoditized just like everything else in this fucked up country, and you've got a system ripe for abuse.

Just about every time a game company gets into the non-gaming news it's a story like this. EA, Activision, and Riot Games off the top of my head have all had scandals relating to the treatment of female employees.

The games industry is significantly worse for workers than the rest of the tech industry, in pretty much every way, including all the intersectional ones. (And the rest of tech is already bad.)
