This is framed as "good news" in the article because of pushback. That's like saying that the sexually predatory behavior at Activision-Blizzard was good news because there was, eventually, pushback to it. :what-the-hell:

American Psycho wasn't supposed to be an instruction manual

It's ironic or something so it's okay. Just like /pol/ nazis were ironic nazis. :galaxy-brain:

It's like bros who like Glengarry Glenn Ross because they like Alec Baldwin's character.

I know several unironic fans of the character, and they even use the "steak knives" speech as their personal motivator to be "better businessmen." :desolate:

Yeah it’s great. The main character is supposed to come across as kinda pathetic

As an aside, going back to American Psycho, it really is disturbing that some people that I know in real life really do admire and emulate Patrick Bateman and completely missed the narrative implication that he was a pathetic empty nothing.

reading the book should be a requirement to speak on American Psycho. it's literally pages and pages of Bateman going :so-true: about the brands people own and not giving a shit about being mistaken for somebody else

yes, it's a great character drama/study about masculinity and office culture
