"Now that's enough...

Facing these savage hordes, asking for calm is no longer enough, it must be imposed!

Restoring the republican order and putting the apprehended beyond the capacity to harm should be the only political signals to give.

In the face of such exactions, the police family must stand together.

Our colleagues, like the majority of citizens, can no longer bear the tyranny of these violent minorities.

The time is not for union action, but for combat against these "pests". Surrendering, capitulating, and pleasing them by laying down arms are not the solutions in light of the gravity of the situation.

All means must be put in place to restore the rule of law as quickly as possible.

Once restored, we already know that we will relive this mess that we have been enduring for decades.

For these reasons, Alliance Police Nationale and UNSA Police will take their responsibilities and warn the government from now on that at the end, we will be in action and without concrete measures for the legal protection of the Police, an appropriate penal response, significant means provided, the police will judge the extent of the consideration given.

Today the police are in combat because we are at war. Tomorrow we will be in resistance and the government will have to become aware of it."

From a state perspective, why would you even allow cops to have unions? They should be doing what you want. Like any military commander who demands something from the government is usually immediately shot. Are western governments just idiots? Allow the people with guns to revolt against you but not the hungry factory worker lol.

It creates another impediment to popular change when people get mad at the whole rightwing death squad thing. It also allows PDs to oppose progressive local politicians.

How would you stop them? The only option is to send in the army, and if you threaten to do that they'll just refuse to work. You can't tell men with guns what to do, you can only ask.

cops are bozos. they work shifts and sleep in homes, not barracks. a revolutionary provisional government would cut off their pay and post their home addresses online. they would be dragged squealing from their little hidey holes and beaten to death in the streets. any dumb enough to congregate in a precinct would get seiged in, electricity and water shut off.

the only ones surviving would sniff the air and, hours before their outing, be in the road, fleeing from anywhere they might be recognized.

You can see why they allow it right here. They only hire bloodthirsty racist psychopaths, so the union promotes bloodthirsty racist psychopathy. Their job is to beat people down as an occupation force, so that's the desired qualification. The military is always there to take care of them if needed, and they don't hire people who would do that anyways. Plus these cops know their role and they know that the government supports them. I have a feeling that a lot of their sabre-rattling and strong words for the government is more for the media to package for the public than it is an actual threat to the government. At least that's my understanding. If they actually said they were going to lift a finger against anyone with power there would immediately be a purge and reorganization of the police.
