I'm in the mood for some banger fanonical reimaginings/explorations.

Off the top of my head, here's what I can contribute:

  • An Eagle Among Lions is a neat little (and by little I mean long) Fire Emblem: Three Houses Edelgard-centric time travel fic (kinda) that has all-but-explicitly leftist undertones poking out from under it every now and then. It's to the point where I consider it leftist dogwhistling, which had me going soypoint-2 every time something hit.

  • The Summoned Hero Is A Historical Materialist is an explicitly communist Shield Hero AU that flips Naofumi's character to be an hardline anti-slavery socialist rather than an isekai-typical pedophile slaver protag. It is the fanfic equivalent of the concept of a John Brown Isekai. It's great, well-executed, and I think it deserves more recognition

Anyone else have recommendations? I'd love to expand my palate.

Broken Things is a pokemon fic, but it's really more of alt history (now with pokemons.) For the leftist aspect, you've got a trans main character, and a story with anti imperialist, anti colonial, and anti capitalist themes. It's well written too, with high quality prose and writing style that stands out among the amateurish sea of fic writers. Currently unfinished, but is still getting new chapters. Author just returned from a hiatus. No/minimal knowledge of canon is needed (just read the wiki page on gen 7 game plot), because it's so massively diverged from canon that going in blind is probably fine. If you like characters that you can get into the mind of; rich worldbuilding(there's 2 side stories that are just worldbuilding stuff); leftist and queer themes; and a fic that stands above a sea of slop, this is it. I can't stress enough how criminally underrated this fic is.

Does this fic do anything about the slavery (of sapient pokemon) and animal abuse (of the non-sapeint ones)? That's the main issue that makes me stay away from that fandom...

Yes, this is brought up. The setting is not shown uncritically, but it's not like the characters do a revolution of veganism either.

While I would like a fic about revolution, I'm fine if there's like some progress made...
