The proportion of US overdose deaths involving both fentanyl and stimulants has increased more than 50-fold since 2010. By 2021, stimulants (such as cocaine and methamphetamine) had become the most common drug class found in fentanyl-involved overdoses in every US state. This rise in fentanyl/stimulant fatalities constitutes the ‘fourth wave’ in the US’s long-running opioid overdose crisis.
A close friend of mine got addicted to opioids through American over subscribing. They died of a fentanyl overdose this year. This brings the total up to 4 people I know who have died from this. It’s crazy as an “old” genz (or the youngest millennial depending on where you draw the line) it’s astounding the level of this crisis.
Been here since the 2000s and, I guess, even the 1990s. For a long time, nobody talked about it... Now we are and still getting it wrong, imho. Just look at how the media reports it or doesn't at all.
