Reminder that before fent took off 90% of the worlds illicit opioid supply came from Afghanistan, and the US consumed 80% of the world’s illicit opioids. One reason why Afghanistan became less important and ok to abandon is that we found a cheap mass producible replacement for poppy fields. Without fent we would likely still be there today.

A close friend of mine got addicted to opioids through American over subscribing. They died of a fentanyl overdose this year. This brings the total up to 4 people I know who have died from this. It’s crazy as an “old” genz (or the youngest millennial depending on where you draw the line) it’s astounding the level of this crisis.

Been here since the 2000s and, I guess, even the 1990s. For a long time, nobody talked about it... Now we are and still getting it wrong, imho. Just look at how the media reports it or doesn't at all.

i think thats to point out the difference in people who are just doing straight fentanyl vs people who have their cocaine laced with it. It's important to point out to cokeheads that their is a danger with their drug of choice as well. Plus I think people who do cocaine probably aren't trying to do fentanyl.
