It’s because it takes him an unreasonable amount of time to do a podcast. When he was doing his big series on the Japanese during WW2, it took him ~6 months to do a single podcast episode.
Even by lib history standards, his stuff hasn’t been all that good for years. He peaked with his WW1 series (really just the first half of it or so) and has been pretty mid ever since.
