I have a vague, underdeveloped theory that the Germanic people are responsible for most of the horrific shit that came out of Europe, especially colonialism and imperialism, since the fall of Rome and to this day. The Frankish Empire would be a root of that.

On top of Germans obviously and the horrors they've done, the English are of course Anglo-Normans, i.e. Germanic. The Netherlands and Belgium are fairly straightforward. But even the Romance speaking colonizer countries can be traced back to Germans. France comes from the Franks, and was born alongside Germany from the split of the Frankish Empire. Italy was invaded by Ostrogoths, Lombards, and later Normans in the south. Spain and Portugal are descended from the Visigothic Kingdom.

And of course the modern imperialist power amerikkka is just an offshoot of the Anglo-Normans.

This is basically my personal running joke that the German people are the source for all evil in the world

Yeah, it basically started as a running joke like that, but I'm starting to internalize it.

It's kinda a joke but the first thing the Germans did after unification was proceed to stop fighting each other and start fighting everyone else.

Just keep them distracted with beer and music and hopefully they'll leave the rest of us alone.

i don't think the visigoths or suevi can be any more reliably lashed to the boat of spanish imperialism than the moors. the latins are just as much a part of the development of europe and its imperialism

The Kingdom of Asturias was founded by a Visigoth, and later kingdoms ultimately stem from it.
