The International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) is an annual conference attended by communist and workers' parties from several countries. It originated in 1998 when the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) invited communist and workers' parties to participate in an annual conference where parties could gather to share their experiences and issue a joint declaration. The most recent and 23rd meeting of the IMCWP is being held in October 2023 in Izmir and hosted by the Communist Party of Turkey (modern).
Organization
The Working Group (WG) of International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) is composed of Communist Parties throughout the world. The task of the working group is to prepare and organize the International Meetings of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWPs).
The meetings are held annually, with participants from all around the globe. Additionally, there are occasionally extraordinary meetings such as the meeting in Damascus in September 2009 on "Solidarity with the heroic struggle of the Palestinian people and the other people in Middle East". In December 2009, the communist and workers' parties agreed to the creation of the International Communist Review, which is published annually in English and Spanish and has a website.

The 23rd International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties (IMCWP) begins today in Izmir, Turkey, hosted by the country's Communist Party (TKP).
The Meeting is held between 20-22 October, under the following subject: "The political and ideological battles to confront capitalists and imperialism. The tasks of communists to inform and mobilize the working class, youth, women, and intellectuals in the struggle against exploitation, oppression, imperialist lies and historical revisionism; for the social and democratic rights of workers and peoples; against militarism and war, for peace and socialism."

I'm from Greece and this makes me even more proud of KKE
If only they weren't falling into a weird definition of imperialism.
What I get from this is that KKE has expressed on multiple occasions that we are a "middle imperialist" country since we have also created some monopolies in the US as well. It's quite stupid indeed and muddles the true logical definition of imperialism that Lenin defined. However, what could be the real consequences this could have should KKE ever overthrow the government? How big of a deal is this?
Also, the article claims that KKE adopts Trotsyism, which to my knowledge supports counter imperialism in an effort to turn other countries to communism as well, even if that goes counter to what the people want and need, as well as being what communism was born to fight against, an oppressor to other countries. Is this true though? From my experience their positions are pretty staunchly anti-imperialist, they didn't side with Israel now, they didn't side with Ukraine in the western sense, they're anti US and anti EU. If what the article says about the war in Iraq then perhaps they have changed positions since then?

That's the thing, if they're starting from an unscientific viewpoint they're going to inevitably fall into the wrong conclusions in the long term. A lot of comrades have been silenced and immediately expelled from the party in the past for voicing concerns. There's also a feeling that the party leadership has been slowly just becoming career politicians.
If everyone is imperialist then there's effectively no one we can ever ally with and that weakens anti-imperialist struggle. It also creates "interesting" positions.
Are there any real alternatives for Greece that have any chance of making change though?
They're the major left power that is supporting unions, strikes, demonstrations etc. as well as Mera25 which isn't communist and has a pretty odd program (I'd also appreciate opinions on them).
Yes! I should add this is friendly discourse with like minded people. In actuality it's still one of the most principled parties in the capitalist West with as large of a membership base and political influence. Μέρα25 is more of a social democracy party. They'd eventually capitulate to the dominant system similarly with Syriza that now has a Greek-American State Department pawn as its leader.
