They'll be saying Xi assassinated him.
RIP I guess. Western media always claimed he was a liberal reformer type who secretly wanted to transition China to a Liberal democracy (Bourgeois republic) friendly to the west but IDK if that's true.
Might be worth reading this interesting article in light of his death
Chinese Gorbachev is dead. I'm actually shocked. Western media was really banking on this guy doing to China what Gorbachev did to the USSR.
I know western China watchers thought he was the Chinese Gorbachev, but I have no idea if he actually was.
I'm exaggerating a bit. He was more right-wing than your average CPC member but nothing on the scale of Gorbachev.
He was part of the "right wing" of the CPC but he's not a Gorbachev. His politics would be similar to that of Hu Jintao
Did he also do a Pizza Hut commercial?
How closely aligned was he? I know that the US is notoriously ignorant on Chinese culture and politics and the CIA Is a failure over there. But I also know that for decades the CPC was a hotbed for corruption and bribery
