only the person in question can decide that, and the person in question can't be consulted anymore. Was the person in drag, or was the person trans? We can't know. The person committed suicide because reactionaries targeted a private part of their life. They were outed but what precisely they were outed as is impossible to know, since both people who dress in drag and trans people are targeted by reactionary violence, either explanation can serve to explain the suicide. Maybe more details will come forward in the form of a note, etc. Maybe not.
I mean, admittedly all I have to go off of is the screenshots in the original article which may be fabricated, but I don't think I've seen anyone disputing that and the social media is scrubbed so I can't verify that either. But based on that, she is self-describing as a trans woman, and not for nothing, both the articles and the pictures I've seen of her (including boymode) make it seem like she's been on HRT for a while. Overweight middle aged white guys in Alabama don't tend to have skin that smooth.
Obviously cishet article writers are gonna ignore all that or just play the "well there's no way to know" card, but I don't care to. It's not cis until proven trans.
I guess if its a matter of respect then the final statements made about it are that he just viewed it as a hobby to destress, that he'd been doing it with the knowledge and consent/participation of his wife and since he was young and presumably would have had the private support for transitioning if that was the case.
Its not something I'm eager to speculate on beyond that.
on the one hand yeah, on the other i feel like i can't trust "a conservative news outlet" understands the difference between cis drag performers and trans people.
Considering the purposeful misinformative hate campaign that conservatives are running I feel like we don't have enough solid information to determine that. What I can say is that it all seemes very sad.
you guys, I think she was just actually trans
