Also, it's hard to articulate, but there's something about the way current image generation models generate transparent materials, such as that squat little water bottle in the foreground, that always jumps out to me. I suspect because it's primarily learned what drink container should look like from overlit advertisements.
I think the machine definitely thought it was doing a mask, but it stopped falling the shape of his face and is just a concave void. But like most AI images, the more you scrutinize it, the funnier it gets.

I mean it looks like a mask but I don't think it's plausible the people in charge of bombing other countries are particularly COVID-concious people
