The problem is everything is becoming this. I mean yeah I can just go back and watch old stuff but it sucks there's hardly any good new stuff coming out these days, save for the occasional indie darling.
My response was specifically to the person telling me just to go watch old shit.
Look, I'm being hyperbolic, but I do think as media capitalism consolidates (as all capitalism does) you'll see more and more resources directed towards formulaic slop. They'll still be new stuff but it will just be indie projects or the occasional passion project by someone with the clout of Sorceresses. Which is good stuff and all but I'd like if we could fund more bigger budget original stuff, like are we ever gonna have a Star Wars: New Hope again?
The concern is that the current capital holders are directing all their resources to pumping out remakes, so people who are trying to get new projects funded are struggling to find backers.

there's literally an entire planet of media to watch, and plants/animals/history to learn about
still not seeing a problem
Okay so humanity should just pack it in then and now create anything new or original?
Mind you this state of affairs also sucks for people who want to make new art, not just consume it.
Good new shit comes out every day, you've just gotta look for it and not rely on Netflix zeitgeist slop.

I don't know of people making something new is the concern with a remake
