to be fair, the whole 9-dash line thing (as I understand it) does make it seem like the philippines have legitimate grievances with china as far as territorial waters go, but propaganda like this will probably just fuel sinophobia rather than actually address said grievances.

edit: also the english is a dead giveaway that this is just sinophobic rhetoric aimed at westerners. see comment below

They also have island disputes with Vietnam, Malaysia, and the RoC but it don't see the dehumanized devil claw propaganda for those other claimants.

They can't even kill two birds with one stone with "Chinese imperialism." They have to specify a particular China smh

They don’t seem to specify in Filipino though.

Yeah, obviously, but they did specify it as PRC in the English version and I don’t think anything in the Filipino version says People’s Republic preceding it.

Probably because those countries have an equivalent military strength (maybe except ROC) whereas China can crush the whole island, so the stakes are higher

Its kinda a repackaging of the Eastern European "we had to ally with the Nazis because muh USSR" type argument.

English is one of the official languages of the Philippines and a large portion of the population speaks it to some degree
